Servicing the Community

Salamanca Psychology offers specialised psychological services for individuals and families needing assessment and/or treatment for psychological problems. Our group adheres to the principles of evidence-based practice, and our psychological therapy approach is based on the scientific foundations of cognitive-behaviour therapy.

Salamanca Psychology was founded in 2004 to provide a facility for medical, legal, educational, government and community groups to access when specialist clinical, forensic and neuropsychological skills are required for child, adolescent and adult clients.

Professional Psychological Practice

The psychologists at Salamanca Psychology all have significant experience and training in their areas of speciality. They are members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and of the Colleges of Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists. They teach in the postgraduate clinical psychology program at the University of Tasmania. Our clinical team has a range of experience and training at international and Australian universities, agencies and hospitals.

All psychologists are actively involved in research and many publish widely in national and international journals. Salamanca Psychology practitioners are registered with the Psychologists Registration Board of Tasmania.

How do I make a Referral?

Members of the Public -
You do not need a referral from a doctor.

You can call Salamanca Psychology on 03 6224 1633 to discuss your needs with our receptionist, and to make an appointment.

Alternatively,
Psychology services now attract Medicare rebates when you or your children are referred by a GP on a Mental Health Care Plan (2710). There are conditions that apply and these matters will be discussed with your doctor.

There is a maximum of 12 standard sessions claimable per calendar year with a review by the referrer after the first 6 sessions. An extension may be granted under some circumstances.

Patients with a Health Care Concession Card or financial difficulties can be bulk billed.

Lawyers, Medical Practitioners, Psychologists, Allied Health and Education Professionals -
